Two Languages, One Love

SHAIRI 007 — Two Languages, One Love, complete illustrated poem

I brought you flowers. You wanted time.
You gave me hours. I wanted words.
We each said I love you in full,
and neither of us heard.

I built you a home with careful hands.
You held me close and called it care.
I watched your arms and felt alone,
you watched my work and found me elsewhere.

We never stopped. That was the ache.
No cruelty, no cold goodbye,
just two hearts speaking fluently
in tongues the other couldn't try.

I kept the letters I never sent.
You kept the nights you stayed awake.
Each loved the other with everything,
and each still felt the other's lack.

Maybe love is not just feeling.
Maybe it is learning how
to say it in the other's language,
and mean it, here and now.

But if we couldn't learn in time,
if the words stayed lost between,
the love was real. It simply was
a song that two hearts never sang in tune.
